An extended auto warranty is a protection plan you can buy from an automaker or dealership to cover mechanical breakdowns. Third-party providers offer similar coverage in the form of vehicle service contracts. We use these terms interchangeably in this article for simplicity.

As with any major purchase, it’s smart to compare quotes from multiple providers before making a decision on warranty coverage. You can reach out to Wholesale Warranties for pricing, and start comparing free, personalized quotes from our top recommended providers above.

Wholesale Warranties Overview

After 14 years of business, the provider has some of the best customer reviews we’ve seen among warranty companies. Wholesale Warranties Coverage

Wholesale Warranties doesn’t provide extensive information on the specific coverage plans it offers. However, it does state what types of coverage you can choose from when you call for an extended warranty quote. These include:

  • Exclusionary contract: Because these bumper-to-bumper extended warranty plans are so comprehensive, it’s easier for providers to list what they don’t cover rather than what they do cover.
  • Listed-component service contract: These plans typically protect parts of all major vehicle systems, and each covered component is listed on the contract.
  • Powertrain extended service contract: This coverage protects only your powertrain, which includes your engine, transmission, drive axle and related parts.

We reached out to Wholesale Warranties to find out more about its coverage options. For a comprehensive, exclusionary contract, the maximum term limit was 7 years/125,000 miles. This is not exceptionally long compared to competitors like Endurance and CARCHEX, which offer terms up to 200,000 and 250,000 miles, respectively. It also comes with a 30-day and 1,000-mile waiting period, which is not uncommon for extended warranty providers.

All coverage from Wholesale Warranties is both transferable and cancelable at any time. However, any transfers to subsequent owners incur a $50 fee. For cancellations, refunds are prorated based on your contract term length.

Additional Benefits

The Wholesale Warranties representative we spoke with discussed a few bonus perks offered with the provider’s vehicle service contracts, including:

  • Roadside assistance up to $75 per incident
  • Trip interruption reimbursement up to $50 a day for a maximum of three days
  • Car rental reimbursement up to $40 a day for a maximum of four days

The roadside assistance benefit includes towing, battery jump-starts, lockout services and emergency fluid delivery.

What’s Not Included?

While certain exclusions are specialized to individual extended warranty contracts, there are a few parts and damages that nearly all contracts won’t cover. Commonly, these include:

  • Maintenance parts
  • Neglect or misuse
  • Accidents or collisions
  • Normal wear and tear

Additional exclusions apply based on the agreement you purchase, so make sure to double check these with a Wholesale Warranties representative.

Cost of a Wholesale Warranties Contract

We reached out to Wholesale Warranties for a quote for a pre-owned 2018 Ford Focus with almost 9,000 miles on the odometer and were offered a 7-year/125,000-mile comprehensive plan for $2,462 with a $100 deductible. This is a great price for extended warranty coverage.

We were offered a 24-month payment plan, and the representative we spoke with also mentioned a $50 deductible option. Generally, choosing a lower deductible will raise your premium price.

How to Get a Quote and File a Claim

To get a quote from Wholesale Warranties, you can either use the provider’s online tool or call its toll-free number. Both options will provide you with a free quote that’s personalized to your vehicle.

When a breakdown happens, bring your vehicle to an authorized repair shop. You will need to gain authorization from Wholesale Warranties before any work begins, as the provider notes that it doesn’t cover any unauthorized repairs.

Covered parts and labor expenses are taken care of by Whole Warranties. The company will pay the repair shop directly, and you’ll only be responsible for your deductible.

Wholesale Warranties Reviews

Positive Wholesale Warranties reviews detail a streamlined claims process, affordable coverage options and good customer service. Negative customer accounts shed light on long wait times for claims authorization.

Here’s what past customers have to say about Wholesale Warranties:

Positive Reviews

“I’ve used Wholesale Warranties on three different occasions. It was painless and all done in a reasonable time.”

– DAVID W. VIA BBB

“They are fair and easy to work with, and I recommend them to others. I hope to renew next year.”

– MARK VIA BBB

Negative Reviews

“I would not advise anyone to buy an extended warranty from this outfit. They are next to impossible to get in touch with. My repair facility will not deal with them.”

– RICHARD J. VIA BBB

“They take forever to see if they will approve your claims. I am canceling this policy and waiting to see how much refund they‘re going to give me. Do not buy.”

– CHRISTINE F. VIA BBB

As mentioned, Wholesale Warranties has received mostly positive reviews. When we spoke with a service representative, we also had a positive experience. There were short wait times, all of our questions were answered and there was little pressure to buy the extended warranty on the spot. We were simply sent contract details over email at the end of the call.

Conclusion: Is Wholesale Warranties Worth It?

We recommend reaching out to Wholesale Warranties for a quote. We liked the no-hassle service we received and the different types of coverage the provider offers. However, we weren’t impressed with the company’s short contract terms.

There is also the caveat that you won’t know what plans are available for your vehicle and won’t be able to look over contract details until you call. It would be great if Wholesale Warranties provided more transparency for its auto warranties as it does with its motorhome and RV extended service contracts.

The price Wholesale Warranties quoted us for was fairly affordable, especially given the long term limit and how comprehensive the coverage was. But it may still benefit you to reach out to multiple reputable extended car warranty companies to compare quotes. This way, you can be sure you’re getting the best price available.
