It’s clear that a lot of folks are excited about the upcoming Chevy Camaro Convertible. Heck, one guy already forked out $205,000 for the right to buy the first one. But if the standard Camaro Convertible isn’t good enough for you, you might want to check out the special edition that the luxury department store Neiman Marcus is advertising.
Only 100 special edition Camaro Convertibles will be available, each with a special “Deep Bordeaux” paint job with “ghosted” rally stripes. A cool effect indeed, and I’ll presume it’s one of those paints you just have to see in person to truly appreciate. They say that the paint “shifts in response to natural light. In low light, it appears almost black with a touch of deep violet. In sunlight, a little bit of red and burgundy appear.” The paint is matched by the fabric top, and the NM edition has an exclusive matte silver windshield frame that you can see in the image above. Kind of awkward looking if you ask me.
The interior is finished in an exclusive colored leather, “including amber-colored leather seating surfaces offset by black leather side panels and red stitching.” Red accents are thrown about here and there inside as well, with the Deep Bordeaux accents on the dash and door panels matching the exterior.
All 100 of the NM edition Camaro Convertibles will include the 6.2-liter V8, although you’ll have the choice of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Misguidedly choose the auto tranny and the power rating goes from 426 hp to 400 hp. Serves you right. The NM version gets some additional features like special 21-inch wheels, and the same stuff found on the regular Camaro 2SS (Brembo brakes, LED halo-ring headlamps, Bluetooth, rear parking assist, and a 245-watt, Boston Acoustics audio system.)
Want one? Get ready to shell out $75,000 and be on the phones at noon, EDT, on October 19, 2010 to call the Neiman Marcus hotline at 1-877-662-6276.
UPDATE: All 100 of the Neiman Marcus Camaros sold out today in only three minutes after the lines opened. Wow.
